Data & methodology changelog

This page lists material changes to how PlainNHS sources, computes, or presents NHS data. Routine monthly NHS England refreshes that do not change methodology are noted only by the data vintage on each entity page. To report a figure that looks wrong, use contact or the corrections policy.

2026-08-06, GP practice hub restored on real CQC data

  • ETL stage 10 ingests CQC “Doctors/GPs” location ratings (5,257 NHS general practices with overall ratings).
  • /gp hub re-opened; ten retired invented practice slugs now 301 to /gp instead of an unrelated hospital hub.
  • Population-group ratings are compared only when published in the same assessment as the overall rating (prevents stale cross-year claims).

2026-08-06, National procedure headline figures corrected

  • Fixed national median labels that understated colonoscopy, hernia, and 90th-percentile waits after the live RTT/DM01 ingest replaced fixtures.
  • Labels now name whether a figure is specialty-wide or test-specific so General Surgery procedures no longer show conflicting “national medians”.
  • Removed the legacy waiting_times fixture table from the live schema.

2026-08-06, Live NHS England provider returns wired

  • Trust and procedure pages now read rtt_provider_specialty, dm01_provider_test, and matched CQC overall ratings instead of generated fixtures.
  • Added /changes month-on-month RTT movement hub and /feed/rtt-changes.xml for release diffs.
  • Crawl hygiene: declared noslash canonicals; prerender hubs use trailingSlash: 'never'; /research/ SSR-redirects to noslash.

2026-08-05, Fabricated GP directory retired (interim)

  • Ten seeded GP practices were removed after ODS verification showed wrong practice identities on six rows and non-existent ODS codes on four.
  • The GP section stayed offline until a real CQC-backed load existed (restored 2026-08-06 above).

2026-05, Site launch

  • Initial NHS Trust and procedure coverage, guides, research papers, comparison tool, and methodology documentation.
