Publisher: PlainNHS
Who publishes this site
PlainNHS is published by PlainNHS, an independent data-journalism publisher that compiles, verifies, and contextualises public datasets. We are not affiliated with NHS Digital, NHS England, the Care Quality Commission, or any UK government body. We do not accept compensation from entities we cover.
Our editorial process
We download raw datasets directly from the upstream publishers, NHS Digital, NHS England statistics releases, and the Care Quality Commission's public data, through documented ETL pipelines. Numeric values shown on entity pages (waiting times, ratings, performance metrics) come from the source agency unmodified. Plain-language framing and explanatory copy are drafted from the underlying data and reviewed against the official source before publication. Our methodology page documents the pipeline in detail.
Editorial process
We use our editorial process to compile dataset releases and draft plain-language framing from upstream source documents. Every published page is verifiable against the cited NHS source, no fabricated numbers, no extrapolated figures. Where a number cannot be derived consistently across the dataset, we disclose the gap or omit the comparison rather than present misleading data.
Team transparency
PlainNHS is operated by a small founder-led publisher (one human operator) working with a continuous editorial pipeline. We do not list pseudonymous staff or fabricated editorial credentials.
Corrections and contact
If you find an error, stale figure, or missing context on any page, please write to hello@plainnhs.co.uk with the URL and the issue. We aim to respond within 72 hours and publish corrections with a visible revision note per our corrections policy.
